Wow. I haven't been able to say that about a burrito for awhile now. I haven't came across many burritos lately that have really impressed me, until now! I first went to El Camion at one of their trucks, and thought they were good, but not that good. And then I went to their somewhat new brick and mortar location in Ballard, and I was very happy with my experience. It's a fun and unique atmosphere, the building used to be an old burger joint. I ordered the Burrito Mojado (wet) with adobado (spicy marinated pork) and a can of Hilliards to wash it down. The service was fast and courteous, the place was clean. When they called my number, I walked up to the counter to find a very impressive looking burrito. It was massive! These guys are giving Gordito's a run for their money. As I attempted to devour this meal, I quickly learned that it would be a futile effort to finish. They definitely don't skimp on the meat which was very tender and flavorful. I left with a full belly and a to go box that would almost be a whole other meal. Go "Eat At The Truck"!

It's official, quality burritos are available in Maui! Fred's sits on a busy and beautiful stretch of road that runs right along the Pacific Ocean. Come at the right time and you can enjoy a stunning sunset as you dine. I highly recommend the patio of course. It's also a very busy location, often with a line that feeds out into the sidewalk during dinner time, so go early or late if you want to avoid the chaos! The Carnitas Burrito was excellent. My favorite part about it was the abundance of juicy and tender shredded pork that dominated the fillings of the burrito, very impressive and rare! So next time you're looking for a burrito AND happen to be in Maui, go to Fred's! You won't be disappointed.
